Welcome to The Great Try-On. We’re gearing up for fall, and that includes freshening up our wardrobes with some new pieces. We got to try on some of the best fall pieces from some of your favorite brands and documented it all from our at-home dressing rooms so that you can see how they actually look IRL. We hope that our photos and candid reviews will help you shop for fall wardrobe builders and trend-forward pieces that you’ll wear over and over this season and beyond.

We’re in the midst of fashion month, and if you’ve never lived through the hoopla of going through street style photos and browsing the latest collections, the buzz definitely has a way of rubbing off on you. Seeing so many fashionable people in one place has prompted me to reevaluate my own closet and get a little experimental with fall trends. There are a few places I immediately go to when I’m looking for wearable, trend-forward clothes, and & Other Stories has to be one of them. Nothing on its site is too out-there that you can’t wear it to the office or to a fancy dinner, so it’s just the solution for clothes that will get a bunch of use. I headed over to the site and settled on seven pieces that strike the middle ground between cool and practical. From Prada-esque tailored pieces to a sparkly crystal crop top, keep scrolling for my review of & Other Stories’ new fall drop.

My review: Blazers are my weakness, but give me a cropped one, and I’ll wear it till it’s on its last threads. With the unexpected addition of a shorter length paired with a tailored power shoulder, this piece is full of impact. There’s a matching miniskirt à la Miu Miu, but I opted for the coordinating low-rise loose trousers, and I don’t regret it one bit. I’ll be wearing this for my next dinner outing with strappy sandals.

My review: An oversize graphic sweater like this has been on my wish list since last fall—I love how it’s a low-key statement—but I never actually purchased one. Expectedly, once I saw this, I instantly knew this would be the one to start off my baggy-graphic-sweater collection. My ideal outfit includes styling this with puddle pants and easy sandals for an effortless look that’s chic yet simple.

My review: Slim-fit shirts like this have been a thing for some time, so I consider myself a late adopter of the trend. For this type of piece, you want to go with a can’t-help-but-notice type of color, and this kiwi green certainly fits the bill. It’s also super versatile. I paired mine with an aubergine slip skirt for a color-blocking moment and then brown linen trousers for an office-friendly take.

My review: I’ve been really picky with jumpsuits lately, so honestly, my expectations were quite low before trying it out. Consider me surprised and obsessed. The silhouette falls nicely on the body and a little loose, so there’s plenty of room to dance, walk, or do whatever else you do in a pretty jumpsuit like this.

My review: Flares are back! And I couldn’t be more ready to welcome them with open arms. I’m a big fan of any wide-leg shape, so these appealed to me instantly due to the silhouette. The waist-defining belt detail didn’t hurt either. These are the type of pants you can wear to work but feel a bit more dressed-up and fun than your typical work trousers. Linen also is a nice alternative, especially as we transition from the hot temperatures.

My review: I couldn’t get through an & Other Stories try-on without a pair of trousers—it’s one of the staples the brand does best, and they’re so ideal for the office as well as brunch and everything in between. This pair coordinates with the cropped blazer I tried above, and while they look stunning with their match, these pants are also worth buying on their own merit. They have a low-rise fit, so expect to wear them with a cute crop top or Y2K-inspired top. (I chose this ruffled cardigan.)

My review: This is the type of top that everyone will ask you where you got it. It’s so sparkly, elevated, and intriguing that it honestly could be double the price, and it would still be acceptable. I love the idea of mixing something this flashy with simple pants and sneakers so it’s casual with a bit of sophistication.
