In concerted efforts to provide succor and alleviate poverty levels, Xploits Consulting Limited has partnered with Access Bank Limited to organize a business innovation program for widows, vulnerable persons in the FCT to enable them to provide for their homes.
The project which was carried out in three area councils namely Kwali, Kuje, and Bwari Area Councils had a total number of 150 persons – Kwali- 60, Kuje- 43 and Bwari 47 who were drawn to benefit from the partnership.
Speaking during the workshop, the Director Communication, Xploits Consulting Limited Abuja, Mrs Grace Taiwo said that the aim of the workshop was to equip widows and vulnerable people especially in IDPs, single mothers and female orphans with business ideas development and application skills.
Taiwo said that the initiative aimed to reach at least one hundred and fifty women, 150, in the three area councils in the FCT.
She further thanked Access Bank Plc for considering Xploits Consulting Ltd as a partner in implementing their sustainability programs in Northern Nigeria.
One of the participants from Kwali Area Council, Patience Ibrahim on behalf of others expressed appreciation for the workshop and promised to implement them in her business.
Some of the areas covered include: principle of Enterprise Development, principle of financial management, business law and use of social media.
In a related development Xploits Consulting Limited and Access Bank Plc also organized a 2 day skills acquisition for widows to mark the International Day for Widows and to provide succour and support to enable cater for the household.
The event which drew the widows from Dutse Bokuma, Dutse Alhaji and Dawaki all in Bwari Area Council of the FCT had a total of 53 widows who were trained on soap making, wig making, bead making and make-up artistry.
Addressing the participants, Mrs Grace Taiwo said that the essence of the training was to enhance the employability and income generation of the participants thus making life more bearable for them.
Speaking on behalf of the participants at the end of the training, Mrs Esther Adoyi thanked Xploits consulting Ltd for facilitating the training and Access Bank Ltd for their support.
Another participant, Mrs Mariam Ibrahim called on the government to look into the plight of widows and come to their aid by granting them an enabling trading environment.
