The Deputy Governorship candidate of Accord Party and the running mate to Dr. Godwin Maduka Sir. Kenneth Ifeatu Obi has faulted the Anambra state government over its failure to access the accrued billions of naira of Universal Basic Education Fund, UBEC
Fund for the past years.
Obi expressed his dismay yesterday in Awka over the leadership of Chief Willie Obiano’s APGA government while reacting to the shocking information by the UBEC leadership, which according to him, revealed that over N41.06 billion UBEC matching grants are lying un-accessed by the Anambra state
government since 2017 till date despite the poor state of many primary schools across the country.
He said the UBEC Executive Secretary, Mr Boboyyi made the revelation in Abuja while presenting the 2020 Capital Budget Performance to the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education, stating that ‘Anambra State failed to access the fund in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020.’
Obi, the Medical Director of Oasis Medical UK and a Director in Atantic Oil Services, assured NdiAnambra that the blueprint of the party’s educational sector will enable Anambra children to compete favourably with their counterparts across the globe.
He said, ” At this time when artificial intelligence and robotic technology has swept across the Western world, thus Anambra children cannot be left behind with the sad news that UBEC Fund has not be accessed.”
The Deputy governorship candidate also reiterated the commitment of his principal, Dr Maduka to enhance the academic content of the state educational sector by increasing the educational budget to the UNESCO benchmark.
” Maduka is poised to replicate the Umuchukwu magic wand across Anambra state if the good people of Anambra are determined for this by casting their votes for ACCORD party, the first party in the ballot paper.” He declared.
