Group of People who had initially denounced their membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kwara state chapter has officially joined the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in the state.
The group disclosed this while addressing Journalists at the YPP party secretariat in Ilorin, Kwara state capital said the group picked YPP ahead of other parties due to outstanding attributes the party posses.
Addressing Journalists, the coordinator of the group, Hon. Abdulfatah AbdulRahman said “you will vividly recall that we cited various reasons why we opted out of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in our rally held on 19th June 2021 at M.M event center, such as the inability of the APC to demonstrate fairness, equity and provision of a level playing field for every member of the party”
“Protracted intra-party crises, that have shown no signs of abating, saying excluding the majority of the party members across the state from exercising their legitimate rights during the membership registration and revalidation exercise was a clear signal that the current administration in kwara is not interested in securing popular mandate at the next elections”
Added that the above reasons have given cause for the group to look for an alternative, viable political party where every individual can participate fully in the affairs of the party.
Stating the reason why the group settled for YPP, AbdulFatah said “we have reached out to the existing registered political parties in Nigeria. Not only that, we equally scrutinized each party to ascertain it’s suitability in consonance with the hopes and aspirations of citizens of Kwara State and the party we have chosen ‘YPP’ is a party that assures equal participation for all men and women, young and old, rich and poor”
Added that, it is a party that the rule of law, equity and fairness play are its central ethos. Saying “most importantly, it’s the only party that has had the foresight to realize that Nigeria’s teeming young population, which is in the majority, are frustrated and have a burning desire to be heard”
Welcoming the new entrants to the party, the state Chairman of YPP, Charles Olufemi Folayan said “We are delighted to receive these numbers of strong political players in Kwara State into our party THE YOUNG PROGRESSIVES PARTY. It is evident that they have seen the light ahead and have decided to join the true progressives party to fix Nigeria and Kwara State in particular” he said
