Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has paid tribute to former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr for the role he played in his development.
Rohr lost his job as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria and was replaced by ex-international Austin Eguaveon.
Reacting to Rohr’s departure, Okoye took to his social media handle to express gratitude to the Franco-German tactician for helping become Nigeria’s number.
“You turned my young football career around, helped me, and gave this career a big boost.”
“You let me do what I always dreamed of, Playing for my fatherland Nigeria.”
Thank you for almost 3 amazing years, your support, and your trust. I’m wishing you all the best Coach Rohr” Okoye wrote on Twitter.
Rohr handed the Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper his international debut against Brazil back in 2019.
