It was another painful night at Camp Nou after Bayern Munich thrash Barcelona in front of their home fans. Barcelona came into the match without the services of Sergio Aguero and Martin Braithwaite. The duo have been ruled out because of injury.
The opening ten minutes of the game had few chances, as both teams denied each other little space to operate at either end of the pitch. The first real chance of the game went to Bayern Munich on the 15th minute after Leon Goretzka fired a shot outside the box, but it was an easy catch for Ter Stegen.
Thomas Muller silenced the home fans on the 34th minute when he fired a shot from outside the penalty area and tries a speculative effort, but the ball hit Eric Garcia’s backside and gives Ter Stegen no choice of catching the ball. The first half ended 1-0 in favor of Bayern despite the early pressure from Barcelona.
Bayern Munich dominated the opening minutes of the second half of the game. The pressure finally paid off in the 56th minute when Robert Lewandowski scored Bayern’s second goal. The Polish striker scored from a rebound after Alphonso Davies shot was blocked, Jamal Musiala hit the post and Lewandowski was first to the rebound.
Barcelona gave no threats as the game went towards the end. The Bayern team kept possession to deny the Catalans the ball. Lewandowski got his brace of the game on the 85th minute when Yusuf Demir lost the ball which fell to Coman who finds Gnabry, who hit the post and the ball fell to Lewandowski.
Bayern Munich won the game 3-0, in the other group game Dynamo Kyiv vs Benfica ended goalless.
