As Barcelona turn their attention towards their next LaLiga Santander game against Athletic Club, they may be without Gerard Pique after he suffered some discomfort following the opening game against Real Sociedad.
Pique left the field against La Real with some calf problems which has prompted Barcelona’s medics to recommend he rest over the weekend and recuperate.
What must not be forgotten is that Pique spent a lot of time out of action during Barcelona’s 2020/21 campaign due to injury troubles, so rest is possibly the best course for the Catalan centre-back.
Instead, coach Ronald Koeman may be forced to resort to squad alternatives like Ronald Araujo, Clement Lenglet or Eric Garcia, who are all available for Saturday’s game.
