Super Eagles made it two wins in two outings in the Qatar 2022 World qualifiers.

First 2-0 victory over Liberia at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, followed by a 2-1 victory away to Cape Verde.  Honestly things are no longer the way they used to be.

Before the away match against Cape Verde it was argument galore between those who believe that the Eagles can hold their own any time anywhere and those who insist that the steam is long gone and that experimentation has become the name of the game.

Every nook and cranny there were debates over the possibility or otherwise of Eagles winning away to Cape Verde especially after Coach Gernot Rohr had expressed fears over the surface in Cape Verde Astro tuff and the absence of a legion of England based due to the red list palaver.

Just before the match the sports desk become a mecca of some sort. Since you say you are the expert everyone will work in and ask “What is the time for the match, that answered another will follow.

“Do you think your Eagles can win in Cape Verde? And why do you think they cannot win? Well you know your Eagles have become unpredictable these days any way, wish them luck. It has become your Eagles, and some will even give direct instructions.

They should just go there avoid losing, pull a draw and come home! It almost came to that last Tuesday as Cape Verde shot into the lead as early as the 19th minute through Dylan Tavares with the Eagles coming from behind to equalise through Victor Osimhen 10 minutes later.

Sometimes you have every reason to thank an opponent for a costly mistake and so it was own goal in the 76th minute by Kenny Rocha Santos who plays for Belgian division one side KV Oostende, that gave Eagles the needed three points.

Leave the debate over whether Eagles would have still won with or without the own goal, a win is a win so join those who said ‘Thank you KRS’ and leave it at that.
