English side, Chelsea are facing a Club World Cup championship wait after Japan had pulled out of hosting the tournament in December.

The Asian nation is implementing greater COVID-19 restrictions, amid the increasing spread of the virus.

The Japan Football Association told FIFA on Thursday that it was unable to host the competition.

FIFA said in a statement: “FIFA would like to thank the JFA for their work and commitment and looks forward to going back to Japan in the future.
