Popular hangout spot Holywings Tavern in Kemang, South Jakarta has been ordered to shut for three days for breaching COVID-19 protocols.

On Saturday evening, officers from the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and the military raided the establishment, which looked to be packed to its absolute limit even with patrons streaming out of the venue as the raid began.

Authorities returned on Sunday evening to enforce a temporary closure sanction, which will last for three days.

In Jakarta, which is under Level 3 curbs of the four-tiered Enforcement of Restrictions on Public Activities (PPKM) protocol, food and beverage establishments with indoor venues, like Holywings Tavern, may open at 25 percent capacity, along with other restrictions such as two patrons to a table and a dine-in time limit of 30 minutes.

In addition, patrons are required to check-in to the venue using COVID-19 test and trace app PeduliLindungi. It’s unclear at this point whether or not Holywings Tavern screened its patrons with the app on Saturday evening.

The Health Ministry offered a harsh indictment on young people following the raid.

“Surely, by now, young people understand the pandemic and all the things we have to do. Please be a young generation that is part of the collective struggle; we all want to get out of this pandemic so we hope that young people won’t be selfish,” Siti Nadia Tarmizi, the Health Ministry’s COVID-19 vaccination program spokeswoman, said.
