With the COVID-19 pandemic still very much a major part of our lives, Europe on Screen (EoS) returns for our viewing pleasure in the form of another virtual edition from today until Sept. 27.

The 21st edition of the festival features 53 films of various genres from 25 European countries, including Armenia, Czech Republic, Germany, and Sweden, as well as one Indonesian short film compilation consisting of three titles that won the festival’s Short Film Pitching Project last year. This will be the second time that EoS is held virtually following last year’s edition of the event in November.

EoS is mainly divided into three sections, namely: Festivities for feature fiction films; Realities for full-length documentaries; and Specialties: Short Film Pitching Project, which will screen the three winning shorts, Ghulam, Marta, I’m Home, and Tour de Serpong.

There will also be Film Talks, consisting of Q&A sessions held via Zoom which will see participation of film directors whose works are screened at the festival, details of which along with the registration links can be found here.

As usual, all screenings are free — all you need to do is sign up on Festival Scope. After you’re logged in, click the “EUFF Indonesia – Europe on Screen 2021 Online Edition” on the menu. Hover on any film of your choice, then click the rent button. The film will be available for five days on your account from its screening date, or 30 hours after you play it.

EoS will open this evening with Finnish drama Any Day Now by Hamy Ramezan and close with Italian music documentary We Are The Thousand by Anita Rivaroli on Sept. 27.

Keep an eye for updates from EoS on their Twitter, Instagram, and website, and you can find the festival program book here.
