Germany and Bayern Munich’s Legend, Gerd Muller has passed away at age 75. According to reports, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2015 and has been living in a specialized care home.

The death of Muller was announced on the official Twitter account of Bayern Munich on Sunday, August 15th, 2021. Muller played most of his football at the Bundesliga club.

Bayern, in their statement, said the club and fans were mourning the death of one of its legends.

FC Bayern are mourning the passing of Gerd Muller. The FC Bayern world is standing still today. The club and all its fans are mourning the death of Gerd Muller, who passed away on Sunday morning at 75.

Muller was one of the finest footballers that have ever played for Bayern Munich and Germany. He joined Bayern in the summer of 1964 and won the Intercontinental Cup, three European Cups, and a European Cup Winners’ Cup.

De Bomber, as he was popularly called in his playing days, won the Bundesliga title and the DFB Cup four times each. He also won the 1972 European Champion with Germany in 1972 and the 1974 World Cup, scoring the goal that won the trophy against the Netherlands.

Muller scored 566 goals in 607 games for Bayern Munich and still holds the record for the most goals scored in the Bundesliga scoring 365 goals. He was also the top scorer in the league for seven seasons, as well as getting himself 68 times on the score sheet in 62 games for Bayern Munich.
