A girl who appeared leaning dangerously over the railing of an elevated rail line at Yio Chu Kang station this afternoon was pulled back to safety, according to reports on social media.

After video footage showed onlookers and staff observing the unidentified girl, one apparent witness said that she had been “saved” by police and officers with the Singapore Civil Defence Force, who arrived within minutes of the 2pm incident.

“The rumour was that she somehow climbed over the [MRT] trail while there wasn’t any train moving … and her two friends came up to the MRT station, shouting from [afar] to get her attention to not jump,” Instagram user Sgfollowsall wrote.

Train service on the North South Line was delayed and defense force officers spotted at the scene, according to a Twitter account that provides rail system updates. Calls to the force went unanswered.

Another image apparently shot on the scene had showed the girl holding onto the railing while an SBS transit officer reached up from the road below.
