I didn’t think a skirt trend would come around for seasons that made as big a splash as Miu Miu’s micro mini from spring/summer 2022, but already, a vastly different style has taken its place at the top of fashion’s priority list. Spotted at Prada, Bottega Veneta, Christopher Kane, Brandon Maxwell—must I go on?—and more shows during the fall/winter 2022 season, voluminous A-line skirts have become one of 2023’s most dominant trends.

To help compensate for the fact that straight-off-the-runway picks are more often than not out of many people’s price ranges, I went searching for options that look the part but won’t break the bank. And after a good deal of scrolling, I found the perfect fit: a $50 gorgeously balloon-like skirt from H&M that’s miraculously still in stock in every size and 100% capable of getting you the Prada look for a whole lot less. Below, shop my discovery from H&M and more runway-inspired voluminous skirts.

Prada helped to kick off this trend with knee-length wool skirts that billowed out, paired with blazers and menswear-inspired knits.

These bright, fringe-embellished skirts packed a mega punch on the runway at Bottega Veneta. Speaking for myself, they’re not pieces you forget about.

Stunning doesn’t even begin to describe the circle skirts presented at Brandon Maxwell’s F/W 22 show, most of which were crafted out of this wrinkled ivory fabric.

This look perfectly combines menswear and womenswear aesthetics with the Mary Janes, baby-pink bag, and ’50s-style skirt contrasting with the oversize sweater.

The side angle really does this space-consuming leather skirt justice—am I right?

How we went from the tiniest miniskirts, well, ever to voluminous skirts like this one from Christopher Kane isn’t for me to pinpoint. All I can say is that I’m not mad about it one bit.

The perfect pair of jeans—found.

Anything off the shoulder is a yes for me.

Pop the collar always.

These are giving retro Chanel vibes.

A $65 faux-leather jacket? I’ll take it.

Perfectly imperfect.

It’s impossible to hate on cargo pants.

When in doubt, belt it.

Everyone needs classic trousers.

The perfect transitional topper.

These are everywhere right now.

Throw on a pair of jeans and a blazer and you’re good to go.

Yes, these really are $18.

Canadian tuxedos are all I want to wear lately.

This sweater looks so expensive.

*Adds to cart.*

Layer this oversize blouse with a fitted turtleneck underneath.
