Rides on Hong Kong’s trams will be free on Mid-Autumn Festival, the transport company has announced.

The free ride day is in partnership with Huatai International, which is marking its first anniversary of Zhangle Global, its online stock-trading app.

The city celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival this coming Tuesday. The day after it is a public holiday.

Meanwhile, MTR also said it will be enhancing the frequency of trains starting from early afternoon on that day to accommodate the public going out and gathering with friends and family on Mid-Autumn Festival.

Hong Kong Tramways regularly offers free rides throughout the year. Just last month, commuters had their fares waived for a day to toast Hong Kong’s historical success at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The company was recently awarded a Guinness World Record for owning the largest fleet of double-decker trams in service. Hong Kong Tramways operates 165 trams.

Hong Kong Tramways also worked with Pantone Color Institute to create a signature green shade, an ode to the funicular’s cultural significance in Hong Kong, earlier this year.
