Leicester City players are dreaming of FA Cup glory after securing a place in this season’s final.

Leicester beat Southampton 1-0 in their semi-final at Wembley on Sunday, courtesy of a 55th-minute goal from Kelechi Iheanacho.

They will now face Chelsea in the final at Wembley on May 15 as the club bid to lift the trophy for the first time in their history.

City have been beaten finalists on four previous occasions – most recently in 1969, when they were edged out by Manchester City.

They were playing in their first FA Cup semi-final since 1982 – and claimed a deserved victory as the Saints failed to muster a shot on target in the match.

Leicester created the better chances and the decisive moment arrived 10 minutes into the second half when Iheanacho converted at the second attempt following good work from strike partner Jamie Vardy.

After the match, City players took to social media to give their reaction to the big win.

Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi paid tribute to Nigerian compatriot and “Seniorman” Iheanacho.

“So proud of this team. My Seniorman is on fire,” Ndidi tweeted.

Iheanacho himself recorded a special video message for the Foxes fans, saying: “Thank you once again for all your support. We love you guys and hopefully, we can see you all in the final.

“Thank you very much for supporting from home and stay safe everyone, and hopefully we’ll get the trophy in the final.”

The match-winner added in his post-match interview: “It is a dream come true. I watched the FA Cup when I was little and now I get the chance to play in the final.

“I think the FA Cup loves me and I love the FA Cup.”

James Maddison, who came off the bench on his return to the squad after breaching Covid-19 rules, tweeted: “We are in the FA Cup Final. Wow.. never thought I’d be able to say that as a young boy.

“Great to be back out there representing my club @lcfc, a lot of hard work and making up to do from now until the end of the season with so much to play for. Let’s gooooo.”

Ayoze Perez – another Covid rule-breaker – was named in the starting line-up. Afterwards, the Spaniard posted: “VAMOSSSS! Face with look of triumph Now let’s go and win the #FACup!”

Defender Caglar Soyuncu simply tweeted “FA CUP FINAL” – followed by a blue heart and a fox emoji.

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel posted on Instagram: “Fantastic by the boys. FA Cup final awaits.”

On the same social media platform, Ricardo Pereira said: “FA Cup final (tick). Congrats to everyone at @lcfc.”
