Irony rears its head after a regional director of a party-list called the People’s Volunteer Against Illegal Drugs (PVAID), was arrested for allegedly selling methamphetamine or “shabu” in a buy-bust operation.
Reports said that the individual, Jerklie Abdulkarim, and two others were caught Tuesday by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) – Task Force Against Illegal Drugs in Dasmariñas Cavite, about an hour’s drive from Manila.
Here’s the kicker: not only is Abdulkarim a regional head of a party-list that claims to be against illegal drugs, the NBI said that he was the group’s mastermind, selling half a kilo of meth for over PHP1 million (about US$20,000), and even allegedly used a minor as a drug courier.
Reports said that the group has been selling drugs in Metro Manila and Cavite for years, according to the NBI.
Meanwhile, social media users got a kick out of the fact that one of Abdulkarim’s identification cards said that he was a “Diehard Marcos Supporter” — referencing President Duterte’s previous allusion that the former senator and presidential candidate was taking cocaine.

“Directed by Robert B. Weide,” one Reddit user quipped.
The NBI said that they were investigating the matter further.
