Youth Wing Christian Association of Nigeria YOWICAN, condemned in strong terms the mindless mass killing of Christians and Plateau State citizens, especially on Wednesday morning by bandits in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
National Chairman, YOWICAN Amb. Belusochukwu Enwere, lamented that governments at both state and federal levels have woefully failed to put an end to the mindless attacks, killings and destruction of property.
Enwere, while reacting to the ongoing destruction of lives and property in the state urged Christians and indeed Nigerians to defend themselves.
“I condemn in totality the gruesome killings of over 35 Plateau citizens especially Christians on 25th August 2021 in midnight attack where houses and churches were burnt including a primary school in Kunga of Zangam.
“This is not acceptable to Nigerian no matter the tribe, religion and ethnicity. Where are our leaders, the labour of our hero’s past are beginning to be in vain. Nigeria is sliding into anarchy were religion, ethnic and terrorism are spreading like wildfire.
“The scars of all this killings will never be erased in our minds. today is plateau, another is Kaduna, Benue etc. All this must stop.
“Christians youth across the country and indeed Nigerians should defend themselves against killers before we are all consumed. This is unacceptable and condemnable. Enough is enough”
He, however, called on President Muhammadu Buhari, National and State Assemblies, security agencies as well as the State Governor’s to rise up and protect the her people and stop playing politics with the lives of it’s citizens.
“On behalf of Youth Wing Christian Association of Nigeria YOWICAN, I wish to sympathise with families, government and people of Plateau State on the barbaric and dastardly killings that took place in different communities and LGA’s” he said.
