Romelu Lukaku says he has returned to Chelsea as a ‘winner’ – and is back to deliver more trophies to Stamford Bridge.

The £97.5million striker has been handed the No9 shirt is ready to make his second debut for the club against Arsenal on Sunday.

Thomas Tuchel believes the Belgium international will provide the missing piece in his bid to win the Premier League title this season – and Lukaku insists he is now the finished article after two years at Inter Milan, who were crowned Serie A champions last term.

“It’s about winning trophies,” he said. “I’ve realised how different people’s attitude is towards you when you win something. That’s something that I’ve learnt.

“In conversations I had with Didier Drogba or John Terry or Antonio Conte, the respect I have is different when you start winning. That was something I really wanted. I wanted to win so bad. I went to Inter and then we did.

“That’s the only thing that matters to me – winning. Scoring goals, yes, that’s beautiful. I know I am in a position where I can score a lot of goals. But winning trophies, that sets you apart.

“The club has kept being progressive and has made sure it keeps winning trophies. For me it’s the right move for me for the rest of my career because, with a lot of maturity and experience, you come back as a player that can hopefully add something to the team.”

Former Chelsea academy starlet Lukaku has realised a dream by returning to the club he left seven years ago when signing for Everton.

He endured a difficult time at Manchester United when last in the Premier League, but is convinced he will add a new dimension to Tuchel’s European champions.

“I don’t have to prove anything to anyone. The only thing that motivates me is myself.

“I have experienced success elsewhere and also a different playing style where its more technical-based and tactical.

“The Premier League has a bit of everything and the experiences I had a few years ago were great. I loved every minute of it on and off the field, but the experiences in Italy made me more complete as a player.

“Now it’s just about what I have learrnt in Italy. Watching the Premier League over theplast few years, the players have got better, the teams have got better and I am ready for the challenge.

“The coach wanted something different to add to the team than what he’s got. I think I’m different to all the players that he has. But you have to put some respect on this team. This team won the Champions League. That is the biggest trophy in European football.

“I’m coming and I will make myself available for the manager and hopefully we can work together and keep performing like we should.”
