Not that we’re keeping track or anything, but the Met Gala is just a few days away. Raise your hand if you’re excited for the highly anticipated return of the biggest fashion event of the year. Yep, that’s just about everyone. Celebrities and models pull out all the stops for their Met Gala red carpet looks, and we have a feeling this year will be no exception. The 2021 theme is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,”so we’re anticipating plenty of over-the-top outfits—but most likely not from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

The designers don’t typically adhere to the Met Gala themes, instead choosing to stay in line with their signature style. The sisters have attended the Met Gala since 2005, which means we had plenty of stellar red carpet looks to choose from, but we narrowed it down to our five favorite looks. Scroll down to see the Olsens’ best Met Gala red carpet looks in anticipation of fashion’s biggest night next week.

Both Mary-Kate and Ashley wore Badgley Mischka dresses to the Met Gala in 2006, with the former opting for a slip dress and the latter wearing an embellished long-sleeve gown.

At 2018’s Met Gala, where the theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” Ashley wore a vintage Paco Rabanne gown, and Mary-Kate wore a dress from their brand The Row with a vintage Paco Rabanne necklace.

Mary-Kate and Ashley’s first Met Gala was all the way back in 2005 when they were just 19 years old. Ashley wore an Oscar de la Renta dress, and Mary-Kate opted for a vintage number.

Mary-Kate and Ashley wore vintage dresses to the 2014 Met Gala, where the theme was “Charles James: Beyond Fashion.”

For their most recent Met Gala, the sisters wore complementary vintage Chanel coatdresses made of leather. The edgy-elegant outfits suited their cool New York aesthetic to a T.
