Lionel Messi will wear the number 30 shirt, for the first time since the start of his professional career, at PSG next season.
According to Daily Star, Messi was finally confirmed as a PSG player on Tuesday evening but he won’t be donning his iconic 10 or 19.
Instead, Messi has been given the number 30 shirt, inspired by his early days at Barcelona.
The 34-year-old wore the number when he broke into the first-team set-up at the Catalan club but he left the club having worn its iconic 10.
Messi’s career looks to have come full circle after he reportedly declined Neymar’s kind offer to step aside at 10, and he has instead accepted the number 30.
Messi joined PSG on Tuesday evening after his contract at Barcelona expired.
He said: “I am excited to begin a new chapter of my career at Paris Saint-Germain.
“Everything about the club matches my football ambitions. I know how talented the squad and the coaching staff are here.
“I am determined to help build something special for the club and the fans, and I am looking forward to stepping out onto the pitch at the Parc des Princes.”
