Muhammad Ali’s grandson, Nico Ali Walsh, continued his professional boxing career with an impressive third-round knock-out on Saturday evening following his August debu

Nico Ali Walsh, the grandson of the iconic Muhammad Ali, chose to follow in the footsteps of The Greatest earlier this year and stepped back into the ring on Saturday evening.

The 21-year-old followed up on his TKO win over Jordan Weeks to secure the same result against James Westley II inside 30 seconds of the third round in Atlanta this weekend.

Rasheda Ali, his mother and the daughter of Muhammad was emotionally watching on ringside, and the fight came to a close after the team of Westley II threw in the towel.

While his unbeaten start hasn’t come against the most stubborn of opponents, Nico was made to withstand a decent shot during the fight as he came out on top.

“I know the crowd got excited seeing him hit me with a punch but I truly didn’t feel it,” said Ali Walsh.

“I’m blessed that I am following the legacy of my grandfather. Everyone who loved my grandfather is now watching me.

“I’m happy this fight went the way I did. There is stuff I need to work on.”

Following his decision to turn professional, Nico said that he was honoured to continue the legacy of his grandfather, who passed in 2016 following a long battle with Parkinson’s syndrome

Arum said earlier in the year: “Nico’s grandfather was a pretty good fighter.

“Who would have believed that so many years later, we’d be promoting the pro debut of his grandson?

“Hopefully, Nico will emulate his success. He’s a young man of great character, which one would expect from Muhammad Ali’s grandson.”
