Para-Powerlifting Federation of Nigeria had expressed its sadness over the death of Nigerian Powerlifters, Paul Kehinde who died in Lagos on Thursday, November 18, 2021.
Kehinde until his death, was a four-time world champion.
President of the Nigeria Para-Powerlifting Federation, Ruel Ishaku who disclosed this yesterday, said Late Kehinde was indeed a great ambassador of this country, and the Powerlifting and indeed the entire Paralympic family are going to miss him.
Ruel however urged Nigerians and the sporting world to disregard a recent statement credited to impeached former president of Para-Powerlifting, Mrs. Queen Uboh claiming that late Kehinde was not given a befitting burial.
He described the statement as cheap blackmail coming from a disgruntled frustrated fellow.
According to him, the late world champion died on Nov 18 and was buried on Nov 19, 2021being the following day and the Sports ministry sent a delegation led by Secretary-General of the Federation, Mr. Peter Njoku with other board members to the burial.
Ruel described Queen as not only a confused but a drowning person looking for something to hang onto for survival.
Meanwhile, President of the Paralympic Committee Nigeria Brig. Gen Emico Eruwa(rtd) has equally expressed shock at the death of the Nigerian lifter, adding that the PCN family will indeed miss him.
