Professor Dozie popularly known as INS Dozie is a Professor of Microbiology. He is the current Vice-Chancellor of Kingsley Ozumba(KO) Mbadiwe University, Ogboko in Ideato South LGA of Imo State. Prof. Dozie hails from  Amuzi in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA of Imo State.

Born on 3rd March, 1966, Dozie’s educational pursuit began at Agbani Road Primary School, Enugu, Enugu State (1970-1975) and later to Mbaise Secondary School, Aboh-Mbaise, Imo State(1975-1980) where he made Distinction(Grade1) in West Africa School Certificate(WASC). After secondary school, he proceeded to University of Nigeria Nsukka, Nigeria (1982-1986) where he obtained Bachelor of Science, B.Sc(Microbiology/Biochemistry – Combined Honours), 2nd  Class Division and Master of Science, M.Sc(Medical Microbiology) (1988-1991). He capped his burning zeal for academic excellence with Doctor of Philosophy, PhD(Medical Entomology & Parasitology) from the University of Jos, Nigeria (1997-2002).

He began his lecturing career at Imo State University, Owerri, IMSU, on 22nd September, 1992 as Assistant Lecturer and got his appointment confirmed on 1st October, 1994. Dozie, a soft-spoken gentleman, was promoted to professorial cadre as Associate Professor on October 1, 2002 and substantive Professor on October 1, 2005. After serving at Imo State University, Owerri for 19years, the Microbiologist transferred his service to Federal University of Technology, Owerri, FUTO, on 8th September, 2011.

Beyond the conventional classroom, Prof. Dozie was at Galilee International Management Institute (GIMI) Israel in collaboration with the Harvard University Extension School (January 11 – 22, 2010) and got Certificate of participation at the 23rd Management of Higher Education Institutions Seminar and Galilee International Management Institute (GIMI) Israel (January 16 – 27, 2014) for the Certificate of participation at the 31st Management of Higher Education Institutions Seminar. He was a Visiting Professor, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria (Nov 2006 – August 2010) (Sabbatical Leave & Leave of Absence); Visiting Professor, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (Nov 2012-February 2015); Adjunct Professor, Imo State University, Owerri(2015); Adjunct Professor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka (2016) and  Adjunct Professor, Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (2016).

He is a member of Nine(9) Learned Societies like  Nigerian Society of Microbiology, NSM,  Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria, PPSN, American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, International AIDS Society among others. He has also served and still serving Nigeria through Science and scholarship via editorship, editorial board membership and reviewer of over 30 scholarly works. Dozie, as a renowned researcher of national and international repute has broad research experience.

In the area of research, Dozie INS currently has interest in the following research areas: Ecology, epidemiology, socioeconomic aspects and control of infectious diseases of tropical prevalence in such as tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, malaria, cryptosporidiosis etc, Ecology, epidemiology and has successfully completed research in Ecology and physiology of keratinophilic fungi and related dermatophyte as well as other vital areas.

In obvious appreciation of his immense contributions to society, he has been rewarded with at least 27 social and religious awards and recognitions from nationally and globally recognized organizations, 23 university committee membership and contributed to university administration in various administrative leadership positions/capacities.

Professor INS Dozie, a Knight of St. Mulumba (KSM) Nigeria (3rd Degree) in his great scholarly strides, has to his credit, delivered 34th FUTO Inaugural Lecture, 15 public lectures at national and international fora, participated in 17 international and 51 local conferences, workshops, seminars and other academic meetings. He has in total 112 publications comprising three(3) theses, two(2) books, 10 chapters in books of reading, 100 journal articles and conference proceedings.

Prof. Dozie, is married to Dr. Chinomso Patricia Dozie, Directorate of General Studies, FUTO and
their marriage is blessed with four amiable and enterprising children.
