WITH less than two months to the qualification matches of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, former Super Eagles defender, Taribo West has warned national team gaffer, Gernot Rohr to ensure that only his best players make the team. The Super Eagles will in September kick-start their qualification games against fellow West Africans, Liberia, and Cape Verde and the former Inter Milian man believes only the best players in Eagles camp can give the country something to cheer for.

He told our correspondent yesterday that on paper Nigeria is as good as having qualified for the final round of the qualifiers but recent development has shown that a country like Cape Verde is capable of spoiling the fun of any team and as such must be taken serious. “I want to believe that the Franco ~German tactician of the Super Eagles understands that most African countries have come of age in football. They now have many of their players lacing their booths in some of the best clubs in Europe and as such playimg any of them is usually difficult because of the talented players they parade’, began the former Enugu Rangers International and Julius Berger of Lagos player.

‘He should realise that Cape Verde though a small Island nation has proven themselves in African football and must be taken serious and only those players in top form who are playing regularly for their teams should be fielded in all the matches’, he stressed. aribo was emphatic that the former Burkina ~Faso and Gabon hamdler must not experiment with both games as he has been doing in recent times but ensure that only tasted players who can give him result should be considered for a place in his squad.

“You know that Rohr since he started handling the national team more tham five years ago has been experimenting with players, inviting new set of players for any match in the name of building a solid national team. While this is good but I believe this is not the time to continue with that policy beause world cup qualifier is a serious business and loosing or drawing a game could be dangerous’, he concluded.
