A reckless driver almost ran over a security guard at a school this morning after being denied entry.
Education Minister Chan Chun Sing denounced the incident involving a Bentley driver who refused to stop at the entrance to the Red Swastika School in Bedok despite the security guard blocking the way. Chan said the ministry was investigating the driver, who had reportedly cut in line, and would consider filing a police report.
“This is unacceptable behaviour. This is not the way we should behave towards our security and school personnel who are performing their duties to keep our schools and our children safe,” he wrote today. “We are looking into the case, and will not hesitate to make a police report if warranted.”
A clip of the encounter showed the driver hogging the lane while others can be heard honking behind. A passenger in the white car appears to argue with school staff while taking photos. The driver keeps inching forward and into the security officer who is using his body weight to stop the vehicle.
The video stated that it happened at around 7:30am. The driver was eventually allowed in after holding up traffic for about 15 minutes.
The Union of Security Employees told the media that the car had cut the queue during the morning rush hour, and a police report had been filed.
