Singapore’s magician duo is back with more wizardry, this time producing illusions you can watch from home.

Playing the Hand by Darren & Jerryl, written by two best friends Darren Tien, 27, and Jerryl Tan, 25, and directed by veteran playwright-performer Dwayne Lau, takes viewers through the duo’s personal journeys. A mix of comedy, bewitching illusions, and nifty card tricks, the show will go live on Zoom for two weekends from Aug 6 to Aug 15.

“With current challenges, we wanted a show that transcends the virtual medium, and not be confined to preconceptions of a screen. We hope that this will be the start of collaborations with other artists to create more engaging multi-disciplinary works,” Tien said.

The live virtual magic show is expected to challenge viewers’ perception through magic. To further enhance the experience, viewers will receive a mystery package containing visual aids like 3D glasses, anamorphic illusions, and more.

Both of them have been practicing their magical craft for over 15 years, including performing on stages, roving in smaller groups for various events, and table-hopping at restaurants of Mandarin Orchard, where they are resident magicians. Both previously presented their magic to clients such as Singapore Airlines, Marina Bay Sands and Singtel.

Tickets are priced at S$30 now available online.
