Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has expressed his desire to stay at the Bernabeu until he retires from football.

Kroos arrived at Real Madrid from Bayern Munich in 2014 and has been an ever-present part of the squad since – scoring three goals and providing as many assists in 20 appearances across all competitions this season.

The 32-year-old’s current deal with the LaLiga giants is due to expire in June 2023, but Kroos says he would like to extend his contract with the club to finish out his career in the Spanish capital.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, he said: ‘The length of the contract was chosen in a conscious way. When it ends, I will be 33 years of age and I will have to reflect on what comes next.

‘I don’t need to enter any ambiguous games, I put the letters on the table.

‘It’s my eighth season with Madrid and I have an incredible relationship with the club and I would never endanger that. I think that is something mutual.

‘I have said with clarity that I want to end my career here and that could happen.’
