Bangkok’s craving for sushi knows no bounds, and as plant-based options for meats boom, the city boasts a number of vegan sushi joints for the discerning foodie.

From classic nigiris to makis, here are a few places to cast your line and catch a vegan sushi feast.

Waki Waki Veggie Sushi

This newest vegan sushi spot in Phrom Phong has been generating a buzz with its variety of vegan dips and diverse flavors — along with an attractive if small sushi bar. For starters, try the jackfruit-topped tempura tuna fighter (THB230 for 8 pieces) and avocado tempura (THB230 for 8 pieces). With the Ninja Nigiri Set (THB295) you get a taste of 11 types of nigiri, from tamago standard maki to avocado nigiri, best enjoyed with a cup of Japanese green tea (THB55). For something meatier, don’t leave without trying their katsu don (THB260). Waki Waki also offers appetizers, rice bowls, Japanese noodles, and desserts.

11am-9pm, Tues to Sun. Soi Sukhumvit 24.

This two-story vegan paradise is a popular name when it comes to going green. Try their newest riceberry quinoa sushi served with raspberry mayo and topped with ground tempeh. The Sushi Kiss featuring vegan chicken cucumber with mango sauce is also quite refreshing and the taco-slash-sushi fusion of Tokyo tacos steals the scene. Vistro also serves a variety of all-day brunch, tacos, burgers, pizza, shakes, juices, and more. It’s just a heartbeat away from Waki Waki.

10am-8pm, daily. Soi Sukhumvit Soi 24.

This restaurant rose to fame when it received awards last year for its Plant-Based Sushi and Plant-based Seafood Burger. The California-inspired veggie haven serves sushi, tacos, burgers, desserts, cocktails, and more. Go for the Rainbow Sushi Party (THB1,440) that boasts 32 pieces, or try the sushi bento box (THB500) for a little slice of everything. For something meatier, order the crab cakes (THB270), calamari fritto bistro (THB260), and sup the California Sour (THB350).

 10am-10pm, Tues-Sun. Soi Ekkamai 12.

This plant-based eatery is a lively addition to Bangkok’s vegetarian scene with cold-pressed juice and a smoothie bar. Go and try its eggplant dragon sushi roll (THB190), but stay for the quinoa burger.
