Chairman of Adamawa Queens FC of Yola, Emmanuel Zira, has charged the coach of Super Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum, to begin the replacement of his ageing players by giving players in the local scene opportunities they deserve, Completesports.com reports.

Zira also told Completesports.com that Waldrum handling the Super Falcons with part-time method is rendering him unproductive, insisting that there are talented and younger players in Nigeria’s women’s local football scene to fill in for foreign based players whose ages and strengths are beginning to fail them

“I have absolute confidence that Super Falcons will eliminate their Ghanaian counterparts from the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations over two legged clashes in Lagos and Accra. But going forward, the composition of the team needs to be overhauled. We cannot do well unless we freshen up the team,” Zira told Completesports.com.

“The sooner we start replacing the ageing and tired legs in Super Falcons, the better for the team and the country. Other African countries have caught up with us and it is only a matter of time before they overtake us. We have young talented players who are hungry to break into the team.

“I don’t like this idea of Randy Waldrum keeping his job as an intercollegiate coach in the United States of America and handling Super Falcons on a part-time basis. That is the reason why he cannot open camp with home-based players, cannot train the team for upward of one week. It is not proper and I want the NFF to right this wrong.”

The former board member of the Nigeria Women Football League also called on the NFF to ensure that Waldrum sets up a camp here in Nigeria prior before any game.

Zira added: “I wish an early camping with home-based players in Nigeria before the foreign based join up. That is better than inviting 20 or more overseas-based players, most of whom will not feature. Some of the players in Europe don’t get to play week in week out and they come for matches half fit and not good enough.

“Now is the time to begin the weeding of the Super Falcons if we want to extend our dominance in Africa to the rest of the world. South Africa came with a youthful team to Lagos to beat us to the Aisha Buhari Cup title. We need young players to compete and maintain our dominance in Africa” Zira concluded.
