Determined to cleansed the Nigerian judiciary, the Administrator of the National Judicial Institute, NJI, Justice Salisu Garba Abdullahi, has called on judiciary workers to work hard in other to save the image of institution.
The charge was made by the Administrator of the NJI, during the opening ceremony of the national workshop for confidential secretaries, executive assistants, protocol officers, information desk officers, public relations officers and other administrative staff of the judiciary in Abuja on Monday.
Justice Abdullahi reminded the participants to justify the confidence reposed in them as the image makers of the Judiciary and first point of contact between the judiciary and the people.
He urged them not to allow challenges deter them from performing their duties at optimal level as lasting solutions are being harnessed to alleviate those challenges and improve working conditions.
The NJI administrator reminded to stay away from corrupt tendencies while confidentiality must be their watchword in view of the dicey nature of their duties in the course of handling official records which come under their purview from time to time.
“The workshop promises to be a forum for comprehensive training in the core areas of your job and an opportunity to interact with similar minds from other jurisdictions. It is my expectation that you will share experiences with your colleagues from other jurisdictions and learn how they have dealt with similar challenges and chart a way forward.
“In rounding off my brief remarks, I must enjoin you all to remember the magnitude of the responsibilities entrusted to you. In the course of your duty, under no circumstance must you portray the Judiciary in bad light to the litigants and other court users whom you regularly encounter and interact with,” Justice Abdullahi advised.
He said the topics for presentation at the workshop themed: Promoting Transparency, Productivity and Efficiency in the Judiciary are well researched and would go a long way in preparing the participants for the work ahead.
