Federal Government, the leadership of the National Road Transport Owners, NARTO, National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, has promised to fix failed portions of critical Trunk A road across the Federation.
It said the measure is  to cushion the plight of road users during the yuletide.
Minister of Works and Housing  Babatunde Fashola, Wednesday in Abuja at a press briefing appealed to the Unions to cooperate with the Federal Government, adding that “anger is not a strategy”.
The Minister however blamed the worrisome rate of road mishaps on the violation of traffic rules by road users.
According to him, “disobedience of traffic regulations, not bad roads is largely responsible for road accidents. We appeal to you to go back to your people and tell them to do the right thing. We will no longer allow overloading on our roads, we are calibrating the weighbridges, and we will enforce the weight limit, that is what is done across Africa and Nigeria can’t be an exemption”.
