Zendaya, one of the world’s coolest and most stylish citizens, wore pumps so now I want to wear pumps. For context, I haven’t worn pumps in about a year and a half. But when Zendaya stepped off the boat at the Venice Film Festival today, I suddenly wanted to change that. Decked out in a Valentino Couture shirt dress and blazer, Zendaya chose not to distract from the outfit and went with a pair of simple black pumps.

The pumps were very high and when paired with the edgy-elegant outfit, they just seemed kind of genius and cool. As much as it pains me to say this as someone who wears slippers more than any other shoe style, I think the key is the towering high stiletto heel. Perhaps part of that is the element of surprise after most of us put heels on hiatus for so long when leaving the house was infrequent pre-vaccines. A four or five-inch heel is a welcome jolt to us pandemic-weary fashion lovers. Thank you, Zendaya.

If she’s put you in the mood for a pair of very high pumps, scroll to shop a few of the best options.
